In our time, wisdom is reading past the third Google search results page.

Facebook and Skype join a partnership for direct calls between Facebook contacts. This is the big new thing that Facebook was going to announce today, and I would say it is huge!

Quite likely to my summer routine!

60 secons in social networks are crazy nuts

After more than an hour of waiting for the compilation of my package, Facebook sent me an e-mail saying that the info was ready. Once trying to download it, it’s a must to rewrite your password, obviously to increase the security.

An hour later… the connection that we have is slower than a snail, i’ll change it next month… So, the zip folder has been downloaded,

Once it’s uncompressed, you just have to press the index.html to open and browse within your information, which it consists in absolutely everything, but the pictures that you were tagged in… i guess this will improve soon.

For now, i’ll delete this folder, i just think is completely useless to save it, because it’s constantly being updated, and you just have to download it again whenever you need to backup something… cloud-computing!

Among lots of curious things that i remembered digging in my past. Now i know that this is my third year in facebook, not forth… That i have plenty of messages asking welcoming me in facebook, and even more, where i help people to get into it… and my first post, was about promoting my old webpage… that is no longer available:

Jordi Capdevila Espitia Entre tantas cosas…mi web

jordicorbins.com » Blog Archive » Algo brillante…

Este es el titular de presentación que tiene Adobe para depositarnos una buena dosis de intriga dentro de nuestro cerebro.

I’m currently waiting for my info package, only because i’m curious of how much can be its weight…

Facebook gathers all in a compressed file, the information that you share about your life, or nearly your entire life, because there’s almost nothing you don’t share.

Who didn’t thought about how to gather all this information?, is it useful to have it all stored in a hard disk?, Why should i do that, if i can reach the information at anytime and from anywhere, it’s all in my own and personal cloud that I have up there in the sky. But it’s true that Facebook doesn’t display all your information in a proper way. It works on the now times, and not on the old times, and someone can think, which was my first status update? My personal one was almost four years ago… that quite a long time ago and i can’t obviously remember… and facebook doesnt have any label called My Own History, o MOW, insted of NOW… to click on. I think it can be a good name, and it has copyright from now on!

So. Go to your account setting and the previous of the last one says something like: “Download Your Information”

I’ll let you know how much did it weight.

Tourists’ behavior patterns in Barcelona

An interesting essay about tourist’s behaviour in Barcelona, made by studying the geolocation of the photos that are taken in the city, and studying the different patterns that the tourists adopt when unusual weather, or external issues happen.

Methodology:

This study was based on the Flickr API, which allowed us to obtained more than 150,000 photos geolocated in Barcelona between March 1st 2010 and March 1st 2011

Here there are the highlights of the document:

  • Plaça Catalunya is the centre of Barcelona, for real

  • Japanese, they love Barça

  • If it’s Thursday you’d better not go to Park Güell

  • Nightlife is the last name of the Port Olímpic

  • Hazy fog means amazing pics of the waterfront

  • When it gets cold let’s take a walk to Montjuïc

Google keeping the innovation up!

Last Friday night I’ve had my first experience combining two different media consumptions. First of all, I was watching TV meanwhile i was checking e-mail and chilling on facebook, at this point nothing was unusual, i would say it was one of the most common situation that people of my age have everyday.

Suddenly the tv-show offered me to play in live the game that the contestants were playing. A text appeared with their website and said that i would be able to bet one virtual million euros as the contestants where doing, and try how I would be doing in the contest.

I have to add that was a super-fun experience, they really connected with me instead of just watching them playing i was playing virtually, and paying more attention than ever to a contest. I learned all the questions that were made, and sometimes i’ve done it better than the contestants so i finally applied to go to the tv-show.

The statistics also showed that there were more than 23000 people playing online. Me and my flatmate were two of them, and at least I beat him :)
